Joshua 21:43-45 pg 261
The cities allotted to the Levites.
By going out among the world we see that the eyes of all are on us & we should walk so that our ministry might not be blamed. We don’t want to chase sinners away but to bring them in to the fold.
Psalm 47 pg 639
Sing praises to God
Only Christians give God the true praise. Happy is the family, the heart, in which God is great, in which he is all. There, God is known.
I Corinthians 10 pg 1278
Lessons from Israel’s sins
Carnal desires gain strength by indulgence, so we should take care of them as soon as they rise. Murmuring against God's commands, makes him mad. Nothing in Scripture is written in vain; & its our wisdom & duty to learn from it. Others have fallen, & so will I. God has not promised to keep me from falling. Others have the same burdens, & temptations as me. God is wise as well as faithful, & will make our burdens according to our strength. He knows what we can bear. He will make a way to escape; he will deliver either from the trial itself, or at least the mischief of it. We have full knowledge to flee from sin, & to be faithful to God. We can’t fall by temptation, if we stick to him. Whether the world smiles or frowns, it is an enemy; but believers shall be strengthened to overcome it, with all its terrors & enticements. The fear of the Lord, put into our hearts, will be the great means of safety.
