Achan’s sin & punishment
Achan took some of the things & make God mad. We need to be careful about our love of the world & it’s things & of sinners so we don’t fall into the trap & make God mad. Maybe we should watch over each other to help stop sin, & that way we will help ourselves also. God won’t do it all for us we have to help others & ourselves. We are to work out our own salvation, though it is God that works in us. Let God be glorified in all, and then welcome his whole will.
We should look at home, into our own hearts, into our own houses, and make diligent search to find out if there be not some accursed thing there, which God sees and abhors; some secret lust, some unlawful gain, some undue withholding from God or from others.
We cannot prosper, until the accursed thing be destroyed out of our hearts, and put out of our habitations and our families, and forsaken in our lives.

Incest in the church
How sad/sick it is that people of the church should do some of these sick things – if all the people in the world we should be able to trust “Christians” or church people. Sinful acts affect the innocent & others around them. If Christ isn’t in the heart then the devil is.
Believers must have new hearts, and lead new lives. Their common conversation and religious deeds must be holy. Without holiness we can neither live by faith in him, nor join in his ordinances with comfort and profit.
