Hope/deire of heavenly glory

Ruth 1 pg 296
Ruth returns w/Naomi to Bethlehem
Naomi’s husband failed to provide for his family before he died; isn’t that just like today? We hear this a lot on TV. He took his family & went out to Moab to live, why? Changing our place seldom is mending it. Then the 2 sons of Naomi married, & then died & then there were 3 widows. The daughter-in-law, Ruth, wanted to stay with her mother-in-law. Naomi had come home to Bethlehem empty, poor, a widow & childless. There is a fullness for believers of which
they never can be emptied; & shall not be taken from those who have it. Our hearts should be humbled.
Psalm 61 pg 648
Desire to dwell in God’s tent forever

David wanted to rest his soul, but having trouble. There is only safety in God & I should pray to be led & fixed on Christ my Rock who is my constant comfort. We should only want to be secured under the protection of God’s mercy & truth. And if we partake of that grace and truth, which came by Jesus Christ, we may praise him, whatever be our outward circumstances. But renewed experience of God's mercy and truth towards his people in Christ, is a main matter of ours.
II Corinthians 5 pg 1289
Hope/desire of heavenly glory

The believer not only is well assured by faith that there is another & a happy life after this is ended, but he has good hope, through grace, of heaven as a dwelling-place, a resting-place, a hiding-place. In our Father's house there are many mansions, whose Builder and Maker is God. The happiness of the future state is what God has prepared for those that love him: everlasting habitations, not like the earthly tabernacles, the poor cottages of clay, in which our souls now dwell; that are moldering and decaying, whose foundations are in the dust. Death will strip us of the clothing of flesh, & all the comforts of life, as well as end all our troubles here below. But believing souls shall be clothed with garments of praise, with robes of righteousness & glory. What is death, as an object of fear, compared with being absent from the Lord!
